September 16, 2023, Marked a brilliant evening for the fans and community of UT Austin. As the lights illuminated the UT Austin stadium, which was bursting at its seams with its capacity of over 100,000 eager fans, the atmosphere was electric. But little did the audience know that they were in for a dazzling drone show.
As the 3rd quarter wound down, the usual hum and cheers of the crowd transformed into gasps of awe, when the skies above lit up with a drone show. A dazzling surprise that had everyone’s eyes glued to the skies for Verge Aero’s hometown crowd.
As the drones soared, they painted stunning visuals synonymous with the pride of UT Austin. The iconic Longhorn came alive, as well as the 'Hook 'em Horns' symbol, the UT Tower, standing tall and proud, and the words "Fight Texas Fight" which echoed throughout the stadium.
It wasn’t just about the artistry but also the precision and technology behind it. The FAA was onsite, working in tandem with Verge Aero to ensure everything went off without a hitch. Amidst the hustle and bustle of the stadium and surrounding area, Verge Aero managed to squeeze in an airfield for drone takeoffs and landings. It was no small feat given the challenging surroundings. But with meticulous planning and a steadfast commitment to safety, we established clear zones to safeguard traffic, attendees, and the general public, showcasing our commitment to both entertainment and safety.
Making the evening ever more memorable, as if on cue, UT Austin scored right as the drones were flying, only heightening the excitement. The energy was contagious, and the Longhorns carried it forward, scoring two more touchdowns after the show.
As the drones returned to their landing and the football game continued, one thing was clear – Austin had witnessed a marriage of sports and technology that evening. Verge Aero didn’t just put up a drone show; they gifted Austin a lasting memory, a spectacle, and above all, a testament to the spirit of UT Austin.
Here’s to many more magical nights in Austin! Hook 'emHorns! 🤘🏻
